Stuff sack (with pattern)

I'm loving my new backpack. It is so cute as previously mentioned on ravelry:

This backpack is based upon a pattern that was available in one of those leaflet books you buy in the yarn dept (like the free patterns that you find hanging by the yarn). Anyway my book got ruined and thrown away and the backpack I had made was lost so I improvised this design based upon my memory (now 7 years old!) because I really liked this backpack and I have not since found the pattern again or the leaflet in print. So there is a pattern like this somewhere, but I just do not know where. If anyone recognizes it please tell me where I can find it. Until then this will be a cute alternative!
I used cardboard for the base to make a sturdy bottom. This pattern could easily be modified to be bigger by simply adding more rows of dc (you could also use bigger pieces of cardboard to make the bottom bigger). I used to short sides from a diaper box.
My pattern as follows:

Base Make 2: ch 15, sc in 2nd ch from hk and across. Rep until piece covers the cardboard
After you have made 2 pieces, place one on each side of the cardboard, working through both thicknesses (with cardboard on inside) ch1, sc in each st around placing 2 sc on each corner st
Rnd 1-2: sc around, place 2 sc in each corner st, do not join
Rnd 3: sl st to first st, ch 3, dc around, (do NOT place 2 dc in corner sts) join, cont. in the rnd in this manner until piece measures --"
Rnd 4: join with sl st to top of ch 3, ch 1, work sc around, join
Rnd 5-6: sc around join,
Rnd 7: ch 2, hdc in joined st, *ch 1, sk next st, hdc in next* around, join
Rnd 8: sc around, fasten off
For straps: join yarn w/ sl st at bottom right corner of backside, ch 111, turn sc, fasten off. Weave end of cord through the hdc row on backpack then secure end at opposite bottom corner  to create straps
